■ MISSION KARMAYOGI. The Union Cabinet gave its approval for Mission Karmayogi, a new national capacity building and performance evaluation programme for civil servants. □ ABOUT :- ◇ The mission is established under the National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (NPCSCB). ◇ It is aimed at building a future-ready civil service with the right attitude, skills and knowledge, aligned to the vision of New India. ◇ The scheme will cover 46 lakh, Central government employees, at all levels, and involve an outlay of ₹510 crores over a five-year period, according to an official statement. □ NEED OF SUCH MISSION ? ◇ The capacity of Civil Services plays a vital role in rendering a wide variety of services, implementing welfare programs and performing core governance functions. □ APEX BODY ◇ The Prime Minister’s Public Human Resource Council will be set up as the apex body to direct the reforms.

 ⬛ TROPICAL MONSOON CLIMATE :- ◾ DISTRIBUTION ◇ Some parts of world experience seasonal winds like land and sea breezes but on larger scale. ◇ These are Tropical monsoon lands with on-shore wet monsoons in summer and off-shore dry monsoons in winter. ◇ Best developed in Burma,Thailand, Laos,Cambodia,parts of vietnam and south china. ◾CLIMATIC CONDITIONS ◇ In summer sun is overhead at the tropic of cancer, the land masses of northern hemisphere heated.  ◇ A low pressure is set up in  Central asia.  ◇  At the same time Southern hemisphere experiences a winter and a region of high pressure created. ◇ Winds blows outwards as the south - east monsoon and after crossing the equator are drawn towards continental low pressure area reaching Indian sub-continent. ◾SEASONS OF TROPICAL MONSOON CLIMATE ◇ Cool, dry season. ( oct to Feb ) ◇ Hot dry season. ( March to mid june ) ◇ Rainy season ( mid - june to September)

 ■ WHITE BELLIED HERON SPOTTED :- This bird is spotted in Anjaw district of Arunachal Pradesh. ◇ The white-bellied heron is categorised as ‘critically endangered’ in International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red Data Book. ◇ It is listed in Schedule IV in the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. ◇ It is one of the rarest birds in the world and is found only in Bhutan, Myanmar and the Namdapha Tiger Reserve in Arunachal Pradesh. ◇ It had also been recorded in the adjacent Kamlang Tiger Reserve in Lohit district in camera trap images.

■ SAHAKAR MITRA SCHEME The Union Ministry for Agriculture has launched Sahakar Mitra: Scheme on Internship Programme (SIP). □ ABOUT :- ◇ An initiative by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), the cooperative sector development finance organization. ◇ Aims to help cooperative institutions access innovative ideas of young professionals while the interns will gain experience of working in the field to be self-reliant. ◇ Scheme is expected to assist cooperative institutions to access new and innovative ideas of young professionals. ◇ Professional graduates in disciplines such as Agriculture and allied areas, IT etc. will be eligible for an internship. ◇ Professionals who pursuing or have completed their MBA degrees in Agri-business, Cooperation, Finance, International Trade, Forestry, Rural Development, Project Management etc. will also be eligible. ◇ Each intern will get financial support over a 4 months internship period.

 ◾ SUDAN OR SAVANNA CLIMATE :- ▫️ DISTRIBUTION ◇ Transitional type of climate found between Equitorial forests and Trade wind hot deserts. ◇ Best developed in Sudan hence named Sudan climate. ▫️ CLIMATE OF SUDAN TYPE ◇ Rainfall • Sudan type of climate characterized by an Alternate hot, rainy season and cool, dry season. • In the Northern hemisphere, the hot, rainy season normally begins in May and lasts until September. •In the southern hemisphere, Rainy season from october to march. ◇ Temperature • Temperature ranges between 70°F and 90°F for lowland stations. • An annual temperature range of 20°F is typical. ◇ Winds • Trade winds bring rain to coastal district. • Strongest in summer but dry by the time reaches Continental interiors or western coasts of Continents. ▫️VEGETATION • Landscape has tall grass and short trees. The term Parkland or bush - veld used to describe that. • The trees are deciduous, shedding their leaves in cool, dry season.

 ■ MANDARIN DUCK :- ◇ A rare Mandarin duck was observed floating in the Maguri-Motapung beel (or wetland) in Assam’s Tinsukia district. ◇ IUCN status: Least Concerned. ◇ Considered the most beautiful duck. ◇ First identified by Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist Carl Linnaeus in 1758. ◇ The eBird website, describes it as a “small-exotic looking bird” native to East Asia. ◇ The migratory duck breeds in Russia, Korea, Japan and northeastern parts of China.

■ JAL JEEVAN MISSION (URBAN).  The urban water supply mission under the Jal Jeevan Mission announced in the Budget would include rejuvenation of water bodies as well as 20% of supply from reused water. □ ABOUT :- ◇ Jal Jeevan Mission, a central government initiative under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, aims to ensure access of piped water for every household in India. ◇ The mission’s goal is to provide to all households in rural India safe and adequate water through individual household tap connections by 2024. ◇ The Har Ghar Nal Se Jal programme was announced by FM in Budget 2019-20 speech. ◇ This programme forms a crucial part of the Jal Jeevan Mission. ◇ The programme aims to implement source sustainability measures as mandatory elements, such as recharge and reuse through greywater management, water conservation, and rainwater harvesting.
