Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana :- Launched by Punjab Government Health insurance scheme It incorporates Ayushman Bharat or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Centre’s health insurance scheme for poor. By clubbing Centre’s Ayushman Bharat plan with its MGSSBY, it is expected to benefit 46 lakh families covering 76% of state’s population.  Like PMJAY, this Punjab government’s scheme will also provide cashless health insurance cover of Rs.5 lakh/year.  Scheme would be extend to over 76% of its population, in sharp contrast to 12% that would have been covered under Centre’s PMJAY. Punjab has become 1st state to offer medical insurance for such a large proportion of its population.

India Biggest emitter of Sulphur Dioxide :- A report by Greenpeace India. The findings of report were based on data obtained from NASA’s Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) satellite. India is the largest emitter of SO2 in the world, with more than 15% of all anthropogenic SO2 hotspots. Anthropogenic emission is due to coal burning. This is because majority of coal-based power plants in India lack flue-gas desulphurisation (FGD) technology to reduce air pollution . Measures taken:  Union Environment Ministry for the first time had SO2 emission limits for coal-fired power plants in December 2015 to combat pollution levels But the deadline for installation of flue-gas desulphurisation (FGD) in power plants was extended from 2017 to 2022.

Aadi Mahotsav: It is a joint initiative of Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India & Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED). The theme of the festival is : “A celebration of the spirit of Tribal Craft, Culture and Commerce”. The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has released the Global Liveability Index 2019. • The index ranks 140 global cities based on their living conditions. • The liveability index quantifies the challenges that might be presented to an individual’s lifestyle in 140 cities worldwide, and assesses which locations provide the best living conditions. • The list is topped by Vienna (Austria) for the second consecutive year. Performance of Indian cities: • New Delhi has dropped by six places to rank 118th on the list. • Mumbai also fell two places since last year to rank 119th.
