EARTHQUAKE SOME FACTS:- 1 . Focus of an Earthquake: it is also called as hypocenter it refers to the point of origin of earthquake that is where movement got initiated. 2. Epicenter: it is the vertical trace of the focus onto the Earth surface. in general the maximum damage is not at the epicenter but around the epicenter. 3. Tectonic earthquake: are those which are associated with faulting. 4. Volcanic earthquake: are associated with major volcanic eruptions. 5. Shallow earthquake: focal depth less than 70 KM. With few exceptions, Shallow earthquakes are more destructive in nature. 6. Intermediate earthquake: focal depth between 70 km to 300 km. 7. Deep earthquake: focal depth between 300 km to 700 km.
