Eco Development Forces Scheme:-


  • Eco-Development Forces (EDF) Scheme was established in 1980s as a scheme being implemented through Ministry of Defence for ecological restoration of terrains, rendered difficult either due to severe degradation or remote location or difficult law and order situation.

  •  The scheme of Eco-Development Forces is based on twin objectives of ecological regeneration in difficult areas, and promotion of meaningful employment to ex-servicemen.

  • The establishment and operational expenditure on the Eco Task Force (ETF) Battalions raised by Ministry of Defence is reimbursed by Ministry of Environment and Forests while the inputs like sapling, fencing, etc. and also the professional and managerial guidance is provided by the State Forest Departments.

Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana :- Launched by Punjab Government Health insurance scheme It incorporates Ayushman Bharat or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Centre’s health insurance scheme for poor. ■ SAHAKAR MITRA SCHEME The Union Ministry for Agriculture has launched Sahakar Mitra: Scheme on Internship Programme (SIP). □ ABOUT :- ◇ An initiative by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), the cooperative sector development finance organization. ◇ Aims to help cooperative institutions access innovative ideas of young professionals while the interns will gain experience of working in the field to be self-reliant. ◇ Scheme is expected to assist cooperative institutions to access new and innovative ideas of young professionals. ◇ Professional graduates in disciplines such as Agriculture and allied areas, IT etc. will be eligible for an internship. ◇ Professionals who pursuing or have completed their MBA degrees in Agri-business, Cooperation, Finance, International Trade, Forestry, Rural Development, Project Management etc. will also be eligible. ◇ Each intern will get financial support over a 4 months internship period.

 ■ MANDARIN DUCK :- ◇ A rare Mandarin duck was observed floating in the Maguri-Motapung beel (or wetland) in Assam’s Tinsukia district. ◇ IUCN status: Least Concerned. ◇ Considered the most beautiful duck. ◇ First identified by Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist Carl Linnaeus in 1758. ◇ The eBird website, describes it as a “small-exotic looking bird” native to East Asia. ◇ The migratory duck breeds in Russia, Korea, Japan and northeastern parts of China.
