National Education Day, 2019:-

• India celebrates National Education Day on November 11 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, who served as the first Minister of Education of independent India.
• On September 11, 2008, the Ministry of Human Resource Development had decided to celebrate November 11 as National Education Day. 
• November 11 every year, from 2008 onward, is celebrated as the National Education Day, without declaring it a holiday.

About him: 

• Maulana Sayyid Abul Kalam Ghulam Muhiyuddin Ahmed bin Khairuddin Al-Hussaini Azad popularly known as Maulana Azad was an Indian scholar and independence activist. 
• He was one of the senior leaders of the Indian National Congress during the Indian independence movement.
• During his tenure as education minister, Maulana Azad established a national education system. 
• His primary focus was free primary education.
• In 1922, he was awarded Bharat Ratna — nation’s highest civilian honour, for his contributions toward education.
• He was also a trailblazer for the establishment of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) and the foundation of the University Grants Commission (UGC) — an institution to supervise and advance higher education across the country.

Mahatma Gandhi Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana :- Launched by Punjab Government Health insurance scheme It incorporates Ayushman Bharat or Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), Centre’s health insurance scheme for poor. ■ SAHAKAR MITRA SCHEME The Union Ministry for Agriculture has launched Sahakar Mitra: Scheme on Internship Programme (SIP). □ ABOUT :- ◇ An initiative by the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), the cooperative sector development finance organization. ◇ Aims to help cooperative institutions access innovative ideas of young professionals while the interns will gain experience of working in the field to be self-reliant. ◇ Scheme is expected to assist cooperative institutions to access new and innovative ideas of young professionals. ◇ Professional graduates in disciplines such as Agriculture and allied areas, IT etc. will be eligible for an internship. ◇ Professionals who pursuing or have completed their MBA degrees in Agri-business, Cooperation, Finance, International Trade, Forestry, Rural Development, Project Management etc. will also be eligible. ◇ Each intern will get financial support over a 4 months internship period.

 ■ MANDARIN DUCK :- ◇ A rare Mandarin duck was observed floating in the Maguri-Motapung beel (or wetland) in Assam’s Tinsukia district. ◇ IUCN status: Least Concerned. ◇ Considered the most beautiful duck. ◇ First identified by Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist Carl Linnaeus in 1758. ◇ The eBird website, describes it as a “small-exotic looking bird” native to East Asia. ◇ The migratory duck breeds in Russia, Korea, Japan and northeastern parts of China.
